Access East Point Public Records

East Point public records do not sit in one database. City offices keep municipal actions, permits, police material, and ordinance cases, while Fulton County holds land, probate, and most trial-court files. Georgia agencies add vital, prison, registry, license, and business records. To search East Point public records well, first identify which level created the record, then use that custodian's index or request channel. Some indexes are free, some require an account, and some records are available only as restricted certified copies. A narrow request for an existing file usually works better than a broad demand for information about someone.

Which East Point Records Are Open

The keeper depends on the event. East Point City Clerk is the municipal custodian, but East Point is not a separate county records jurisdiction. Fulton County and Georgia offices control most name-linked records. An online index often gives a lead, not the certified record itself. The table distinguishes a public search from a copy that requires identity, entitlement, payment, or a direct request.

Georgia law withholds sealed, juvenile, and adoption court material and protects sensitive identifiers. Birth certificates remain entitlement-controlled. Motor-vehicle personal data is governed by the federal Driver's Privacy Protection Act. Public status never removes limits on harassment, stalking, identity fraud, or attempts to bypass access controls.

The East Point Custodian Divide

Send city-created records to East Point. The City Clerk keeps council actions, ordinances, resolutions, contracts, notices, and other municipal series. Police owns incident reports, body-camera files, and 911 recordings. Municipal Court owns city citations and dispositions. Planning and Community Development handles permits, inspections, Certificates of Occupancy, and occupation-tax records.

Use Fulton County for deeds, parcels, estates, marriage licenses, county litigation, tax accounts, and election records. State systems provide participating-court access, vital-order routes, prison records, regulated-license verification, business entities, and unclaimed property. This geography prevents a common error: a blank city-court result says nothing about a Fulton Superior Court case.

Note: East Point's online postal identity may overlap Atlanta-style addresses, so verify city and county jurisdiction before filing a request.

Fulton Land Records and Timing

The Fulton County Clerk's Real Estate Division records deeds, liens, plats, surveys, condominium plans, partnerships, trade names, UCC filings, and certain other instruments. Search the statewide GSCCCA layer by selecting Fulton County. A grantor transfers an interest; a grantee receives it. A very recent filing may be absent because Fulton reports electronic recordings are generally processed in two to three business days, while ordinary paper submissions may take as long as four weeks.

The county does not publish the online start year or image price on its public landing page. For an older instrument, paid image, or certified copy, use the Deeds and Records Room at 136 Pryor Street SW, ground floor, or call 404-613-5313. The statewide index is an access layer; Fulton remains the legal custodian.

East Point Property Record Roles

The Fulton assessor search accepts owner, address, and parcel approaches. A parcel card can show the assessed owner, tax mailing address, situs address, parcel ID, legal description, values, exemptions, sale history, improvements, and taxing districts. Situs means the physical parcel. The mailing address is where tax notices go, so it can help locate an absentee owner but does not prove residence.

Fulton GIS and East Point's ArcGIS hub add boundaries, zoning, and neighborhood context. East Point BS&A covers municipal tax and permit functions. For a title fact, return to the deed. For an occupant, consult a historical directory. Owner, taxpayer, permit applicant, authorized agent, and occupant are distinct roles.

East Point quirk. A Certificate of Occupancy may name the owner or authorized agent, address, permit, use, building official, code edition, occupant load, and special stipulations. Request an older certificate through JustFOIA when BS&A does not expose it.

East Point Court Record Boundaries

East Point Municipal Court handles city ordinance and traffic matters. No unrestricted party-name browser or coverage date was verified. Ask the clerk for a citation or disposition with a full name and the safest available identifiers, such as citation number, arrest or event date, charge, and date of birth. The court is at 2727 East Point Street, open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; call 404-902-2581 or email courts@eastpointcity.org.

Fulton Superior, State, Magistrate, Probate, and Juvenile courts serve different case classes. Participating electronic cases may appear in re:SearchGA after registration. Results commonly identify parties, roles, court, case number, type, filing date, status, events, hearings, and available documents. Access varies by court and user role. Sealed, juvenile, adoption, and other confidential filings remain hidden. The owning clerk supplies actual files and certified copies.

Georgia Vital Records Stay Restricted

Georgia's official rules do not support a simple claim that births open after 100 years or deaths after 50. Birth certificates from January 1919 forward are limited under O.C.G.A. §§ 31-10-25 and 31-10-26 to the registrant and eligible people who document the required relationship or interest. Death records have broader access, including a plain-paper path with Social Security information redacted, while cause-of-death information remains limited.

The first birth or death copy costs $25, with additional copies in the same order at $5 each. DPH marriage certification covers 1952 through 1996 and costs $10 for the first, then $5 for each additional copy. Fulton Probate Court handles marriage licenses and copies outside that DPH series. Fulton Superior Court supplies a divorce decree; DPH supplies only a verification.

Eligible requesters may order through state-approved online routes, by mail, in person at the state office, or through Fulton County's local vital service. Applications require the event details, requester contact information, signature, identification, payment, and any relationship or legal proof. The Georgia Archives and older county material are the proper historical fallback.

East Point Records Offices and Portals

These counters are the main access points when an index fails, an image is gated, or certification matters. Contact the office that created or maintains the file. Vendor portals do not replace the custodian.

East Point State Record Lookups

Several Georgia indexes cover East Point residents but describe different legal roles. The Georgia Department of Corrections offender query searches the state prison and supervision system, not every arrest or county booking.

The form's name, ID, and demographic inputs should be read with status, location, sentence, and offense context. A booking, charge, court disposition, and prison sentence are not interchangeable.

The GBI registry provides its own official search gateway and cautions.

Verify registry information with the responsible sheriff, and never use it to threaten, harass, or bypass legal restrictions.

East Point Business and License Records

Georgia separates entity filings from professional credentials. The eCorp business search supports business, service-of-process, and trademark modes. Business matching can use starts with, contains, or exact match, plus optional control number, registered agent, officer, or designated-agent fields.

An entity record shows roles of record. A registered agent receives official communications and may not be the owner or officer.

The Georgia professional verification search accepts profession, license type, license number, and personal-name fields. The official interface advises that less information can produce better results and permits an asterisk after partial text.

Record the license status and date shown. The relevant board remains the custodian for discipline or the complete file, while East Point holds its own occupation-tax records.

The Georgia unclaimed-property program offers an official owner-name search. Claims require identity documents, but searching is free.

A match can connect a person with a former address or organization, yet it should be confirmed through the state claim process. A caller who quotes a real filing date, parcel number, or relative's name may simply have copied open data. Georgia does not require gift cards or cryptocurrency to release records or property.

Fulton Sheriff custody search, GDC prison search, the federal Bureau of Prisons locator, and the GBI registry cover different populations. East Point Police Records, reached at 404-902-2609 or through JustFOIA, is the route for city incident and accident material. Keep each source and status separate.

Terms Used in East Point Records

Portal language affects what a search result proves. Four terms prevent common mix-ups.

Index
A finding aid with names, dates, and identifiers. It is not always the full document image.
Certified copy
A copy authenticated by the official keeper for uses that require formal proof.
Custodian
The agency or clerk that maintains the official record, even when a vendor displays an index.
Exemption
A legal basis for withholding a record or redacting part of it despite the general rule of access.

Ask whether inspection, a plain electronic copy, or certification meets the need. That choice can change both cost and delivery time.

Requesting East Point Public Records

The Georgia Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. §§ 50-18-70 through 50-18-77, allows any person to request existing agency records without ordinarily stating a purpose or residency. If production within three business days is not practical, the agency should provide a written timetable, estimated cost, and any precise exemption it relies on. Agencies need not create a new report or compilation.

  1. Choose the custodian. Separate City Clerk, Police, Municipal Court, county clerk, assessor, and state-agency material.
  2. Check the official index. Preserve a case, parcel, permit, citation, instrument, or file number when one appears.
  3. Describe existing records narrowly. Give the indexed name, record series, address or identifier, inclusive dates, and desired electronic format.
  4. Ask about cost. Request an estimate and say whether inspection is acceptable before staff copy or certify material.
  5. Review the response. If material is withheld, ask for separable public portions and the exact exemption citation; Attorney General enforcement resources or civil action remain available.

Search, retrieval, and redaction labor cannot exceed the rate of the lowest-paid qualified full-time employee, and the first 15 minutes are free. Ordinary paper copies are capped at $0.25 per page unless another law sets a fee. Prepayment is generally limited to estimates above $500 or outstanding lawful costs.

Lawful personal use. Open access is not permission to monitor, intimidate, impersonate, or harm anyone. Georgia laws address stalking, harassing communications, identity fraud, and unauthorized computer access.
